Big Peat 27 Years Old – The Black Edition Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 48.3%)

The final part of Douglas Laing’s Big Peat Vintage Trilogy has arrived in the shape of this 27 year old expression, dubbed The Black Edition. As ever, this Big Peat is built from Islay single malts, though all of the whiskies in The Black Edition have matured for at least 27 years. It’s a big finish indeed for the Vintage Trilogy following the impressive Gold and Platinum expressions! n nNose: Intense coastal air as it opens, followed by biscuit dough, new leather and floral barley. n nPalate: Candied peels, honey, savoury oak, slightly meaty at points. n nFinish: Ash, mint leaf, Brazil nut, more honey and some flashes of ginger.
